Everything you need to know about working with eParaplanner
Let's start with a discovery call to discuss your needs and determine if we're a good fit. If we decide to move forward, I'll provide my independent contractor agreement for review and signature. A brief background check is required before we begin any client work.
I collaborate with Fee-Only advisors who need an experienced outsourced planner for financial plan preparation and tax planning. I'm highly adaptable and work seamlessly within your existing workflow and approach. Together, we'll create a collaborative process that can be refined as we work together.
I work exclusively with Fee-Only financial planners who are not affiliated with broker-dealers. This focused approach allows me to provide specialized service without navigating conflicting compliance requirements.
Yes. I work with advisors under an independent contractor agreement, and most partnerships are ongoing and long-term. For new collaborations, I recommend a three-month trial period to ensure we're a good fit before committing to a longer-term arrangement. Contract can be cancelled with 10 days notice. I want you to stay because the partnership works, not because you're locked into a contract.
I bring a unique combination of credentials and experience. As a CFP® professional and IRS Enrolled Agent with Big 4 CPA firm experience in global mobility tax, I provide valuable technical support that goes beyond typical paraplanning. I serve as an extra set of eyes for complex tax planning scenarios, combining financial planning expertise with deep tax knowledge.
No. I specialize in back-office support, which means I won't attend client meetings or communicate directly with clients via email. I'm here to support you behind the scenes so you can focus on client relationships.
I founded eParaplanner in 2018, shortly after earning my CFP® certification. Since then, I've assisted advisors with financial plan creation, tax research and planning, and tax preparation services.
Unused hours do not rollover. I provide mid-month courtesy reminders of any unused hours so that you have time to assign more work before month's end.
I track time in 6-minute increments (0.1 hour) and provide detailed invoices showing exactly what was done and how long it took. You'll never wonder where your hours went.
As an independent contractor providing back-office support services, I do not carry separate E&O insurance. The financial plans and recommendations I prepare are delivered to you for review, approval, and presentation to your clients. You retain full responsibility for the advice provided, which is covered under your firm's existing E&O policy. This is consistent with how most outsourced paraplanning arrangements work.
I specialize in eMoney and RightCapital, and I'm also experienced with MoneyGuide. For complex scenarios that require custom modeling beyond standard planning software, I create sophisticated Excel-based calculations or work with your firm's existing Excel tools. I also create personalized plan deliverables to complement planning software reports. Note: Your firm will need to secure a support planner license for your financial planning software and provide separate user access for me (never shared passwords).
I'm highly proficient in Holistiplan, BNA Tax Planner, and CFS TaxTools, and I'm flexible in adapting to any tax planning tool your firm uses. For tax return preparation, I'm experienced with TaxAct Professional, ProConnect Tax Online, OLT Pro and ProSystem fx, among others. Beyond software proficiency, I stay current on rapidly evolving tax regulations and apply them effectively to each client's unique circumstances.
Yes. To work effectively on client plans, your firm will need to: • Secure a support planner license for your financial planning software • Set up separate user access for me to Holistiplan and other tech tools (CRM, file sharing apps, etc.) • Provide individual login credentials—never shared passwords—to maintain security best practices
I provide comprehensive tax planning support including tailored financial plans, tax projections, and tax research. If your firm offers tax return preparation services, I'm happy to assist with overflow work. Important: I do not provide standalone tax preparation services. Additionally, since eParaplanner does not carry E&O insurance, the advisor must sign all tax returns.
I prioritize safeguarding your clients' sensitive and confidential information. As an IRS Enrolled Agent, I maintain a Written Information Security Plan (WISP) and confirm compliance annually with the IRS. I'm happy to share my WISP with you upon request.
No. I operate as an independent contractor providing outsourced financial planning and tax planning support services. This means there are no non-compete concerns or conflicts of interest with your firm. You remain the advisor of record and retain full responsibility for all client recommendations and advice.
With a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month, we offer flexible tiers to match your firm's needs.
Absolutely! Upgrades and downgrades take effect at your next contract renewal. Many clients start with Foundation to test the fit, then upgrade to Growth or Scale once they see the value.
I ask for 8 to 14 calendar days to complete any project. This allows time for thorough document review, detailed analysis, and quality workpapers, not rushed output.
Rush projects may be accommodated when my schedule permits. If you have a time-sensitive need, just ask. I'm happy to let you know if I can fit it in.
I'll confirm the expected delivery date when you submit each project and will reach out promptly if any questions arise during my review.
